Willie Green Pro Tips - Convolution Reverbs

Tired of your reverb options?  Convolution Reverbs can open endless doors for your room sound.  Basically, using a sample of a real space, (or real piece of gear!) these reverbs model these sounds and put them in plug-in form for you.  Can’t afford to rent the German concert hall?  That vintage Lexicon hardware out of the budget?  Here’s your chance, and with the internet filled with user made “impulses” the possibilities are countless.

Waves makes a nice convolution verb, as do many other companies, but if you want to get in at a far cheaper level, head to http://www.knufinke.de/sir/.  If you’re on a PC like myself, check out Version 1 which is available for FREE.  If you want a newer version, or you’re Mac based, check out Version 2, which is plenty affordable.  Google for some impulses, and you’re good to go.  I recommend the legendary Lexicon 480L and 960L, and the criminally underrated Kurzweil KSP-8.  You can find impulses for all these for free, and you can also hear them all over my mixes.
